Hurricane Katrina

Hurricanes are never nice.

Especially when they hit on a country that is supposed to be well prepared, but ends up being no where being ready for a small scale tornado.

So, recently, New Orleans has been hit with a Hurricane. For a country that was as advanced and as rich as America, the results of the Hurricane was rather surprising.

And no, I'm not talking about the damage caused, although that was a cause for concern.

What I'm talking about, is how slowly the government responded. One would have thought that troops and supplies would be moving in almost immediately after the Hurricane passed, given that everyone had ample time to prepare for the Hurricane.

However, a quick flip to CNN 48 hours later shows that this isn't the case. This is even more so, when you see the mayor coming so close to swearing at the government for their slowness. On CNN, you can see that the people were just sitting around, doing nothing, their faces full of sadness and despair. Law and disorder is rampant, as everyone is simply looting the place. It's a free for all, winner takes all, **** you game in the most powerful nation in the world.

Why did this happen?

Simple: Iraq.

New Orleans is one of the areas which is Hurricane prone. Yet, funds to control the damage was reduced, thanks to the war in Iraq, which is sapping quite a bit of cash from the US government. On top of that, military resources, such as trucks, boats, and whatever, are sent to Iraq, resulting in a shortage of such transport means. Troops, plentyful and all ready to help, were no where to be seen, as many were posted to Iraq.

Iraq. Iraq. Iraq.

What the hell was the president thinking when he sent troops to Iraq? Hell, if America was so chaotic after a Hurricane, what would happen if someone detonated a nuke? What if some one used this chaos to toss a nuke into America soil?

Boom. China would be the strongest nation, I guess.

Personally, I have no idea why the Americans re-elected him in the first place. Of course, Kerry isn't exactly the best of the Democrat choices, but with things such as the Iraq war and stuff, you would have thought that Kerry got quite a decent shot at winning the election. Yeah yeah, freedom and whatever. However, I don't see any plans to get the troops out of Iraq yet. It's always the same "Thanks to us, Iraqis are now free! w00t!" speech from Bush.

Oh well. Thanks to him, the oil prices are sky rocketing. Sure, Bush has tossed in the reserves, and it dropped to roughly US$70 per barrel. However, in pre-iraq times, one barrel barely cost $35 a barrel, and that is during the rough times.

Another point to note is the gap between the rich and the poor in Americans. As noted in many newspapers, those who remained in New Orleans, despite the order to evacuate, were the poor, and mostly black. I'm not being racist here, but the gap between the rich and the poor is obvious. The rich could simply drive to the nearest airport, take a flight to....say, LA, and stay at their relative's place. The poor, sadly, would have to ride it out.

Again, if it was Washington that got hit, would the supplies have came faster?

Interesting thought.

Hopefully, the Americans won't vote for the wrong president the next time. I mean, if Bush has to ask Clinton, a Democrat, to appear and show support, it does show that the Republicans are in trouble.

And yes, I'm pro democrat.

Sigh.

Rejection sucks.

XD

Never mind.

I'll try again after the As.

I'LL GET HER IF THAT'S THE LAST THING I DO.

Watch me, Chaos. =D

*insert insane laughter here*

Although I have other plans after the As....

Damn. I guess I lose this one. XD
